Tidefront

Build an island fortress, then take the fight to other islands.

Tidefront is a real-time strategy game for iPhone, iPad and Android. You build a fortress on an island, power it, house and feed the people who crew it, then raid other islands with bombers, warships and landing craft full of tanks.

Landing. Landing craft put tanks and infantry on a beach while destroyers shell the base behind it.

Build at home, fight on their beaches

Your island is the base you build up between raids. A raid is a real-time battle against someone else’s island, fought with whatever you send: jets, a fleet, or troops on landing craft.

Air strike. Bombers and stealth fighters fly through a missile defense to reach the base.
Naval assault. A Continental Union fleet in purple trades fire with the island’s coastal guns.
Build
Lay out power plants, condo towers, mines and derricks on your island. Every building keeps one clear cell around it, so tanks and ships can always get through.
Staff
Residents move in while there’s power, housing and food. They work the buildings and crew every tank, jet and ship.
Air strike
Send bombers, stealth fighters and drones at another island. Each jet flies one sortie and heads home once its weapons are spent.
Naval assault
Cruisers, destroyers and submarines take on coastal batteries and anti-ship missiles from the sea.
Landing
Load tanks and infantry onto landing craft or helicopters, pick a beach and put them ashore under fire.
Defend
Your own island fights back without you: missile sites, howitzers and the garrison you left at home.

Six factions, six ways to fight

You pick a faction and a colour when you start. Every faction builds the same core of infantry, armor, aircraft and warships, then adds six or seven units of its own, based on a real present-day military doctrine.

  • Atlantic Command

    Expeditionary air power

Crewed stealth jets leading drone wingmen, early-warning jets that expose enemy stealth, and supercarriers.

An island that runs on people

There are no harvesters to babysit. Buildings produce while they have power and workers, and the same residents crew your tanks, jets and ships.

Minerals and oil
Mines and derricks pay out every second they’re powered and staffed. Offshore oil platforms need a naval yard to protect them.
Power
Power plants run everything. A nuclear plant gives ten times the output, but if it’s destroyed it damages everything within three cells.
Residents
People move into condo towers while there’s power and a grocery store to feed them. Schools train crews, so units build faster.
Crews
A destroyer needs 40 residents and a carrier 120. If the ship sinks, its crew is lost. Drones need no crew, only control bandwidth.

Questions

When is Tidefront out?

It’s in development, with no release date yet. The App Store and Google Play buttons on this page will link to the listings once they’re live.

Which devices will it run on?

iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets, played in landscape. Every control works by touch: tap to select, tap to move or attack, drag to pan, pinch to zoom.

How does multiplayer work?

Raids are asynchronous. You attack a snapshot of another player’s island, and its defenses and garrison fight back on their own, so nobody has to be online at the same time. During development you raid islands run by the computer.

Are the factions and units real?

No. The six factions are fictional powers, each built on a present-day military doctrine. The units are hypothetical near-future designs based on technology in service or in testing as of 2026, such as drone boats, wingman drones, ship lasers and hypersonic missiles.

How many units and buildings are there?

There are 64 units and 26 buildings. Every faction shares a core of infantry, armor, aircraft and warships, and adds six or seven units or buildings of its own. Carriers, supercarriers and stealth fighters go only to the factions whose doctrine has them, and the others get stronger mobile air defense instead.
